Maple Bluff is a small lake-front village of about 1,300 people on the northeast shore of Lake Mendota, immediately north of the City of Madison — technically its own incorporated municipality with its own police force, its own gates, and (since 1929) the official residence of the Wisconsin Governor. The housing is half pre-war lake cottages stretched along Lakewood Boulevard and Kensington Drive, half 1950s ranches set on the inland side. The driveways are short, steep, narrow and lakefront-walled; the public roads are private-feeling. Wisconsin MOOvers carries Maple Bluff dozens of times a year, mostly in summer, and Erik personally walks every binding quote himself.
Why a Maple Bluff lake driveway changes the truck before it arrives
The lake-side driveways on Lakewood Boulevard and Kensington Drive were poured before standard moving rigs existed. They average 9 feet wide, 18 to 28 feet long, drop 8 to 14 percent toward the water, and end at a low stone retaining wall ten feet from the lake. A 26-foot box truck simply does not fit. The 20-foot box is sometimes possible. The small straight-truck and labor-shuttle protocol — load to a smaller rig at the driveway, walk it up to the 26-foot at the inland staging area — is our default. Erik works it out on the in-home walkthrough.
How a gated village and the Governor’s Mansion shape the load schedule
The Maple Bluff Police gate the village on summer weekends and during state visits and ceremonies. Lakewood Boulevard is patrolled. The crew shows ID, the rig is logged, and the load runs by appointment, not by drop-in. Jenny calls the Village Hall a week ahead to get the dispatch on their log. We have a clean nine-year record with the Maple Bluff Police. Reach [bc_phone] for a Maple Bluff binding figure off Erik’s personal walkthrough.
What's Covered
- Erik’s personal in-home walkthrough for every Maple Bluff lake-cottage booking — no exceptions, no delegation
- Small straight-truck and labor-shuttle protocol for narrow Lakewood Boulevard and Kensington Drive lake-side driveways
- Village of Maple Bluff Hall pre-notification one week ahead so the police gate and dispatch log have the rig and the date on file
- Lake-retaining-wall protective padding — we wrap the wall in moving blankets before any hand-truck operates within ten feet
- Boat-hoist and dock-furniture coordination for households moving the lake-side furniture seasonally to and from the cottage
- Maple Bluff Country Club summer-event check so the rig doesn’t arrive during a golf-course members’ tournament weekend
A Maple Bluff Move Booked Out of Robertson Road on a Wisconsin-Signed Wisconsin MOOvers Flat
The Wisconsin MOOvers start rate sits at $175 an hour for two uniformed movers and the 26-ft straight truck. Whatever rate is published on this page is the rate Jenny writes into the contract — the only invoice change comes from hours actually worked, not from a rate adjustment on the truck.
Days ahead of the truck pulling into Maple Bluff, Lukas has the curb cut walked, the freight-elevator window booked at the Vilas mill loft, the storm-window timing noted, the salt-line floor matting staged, and the center-stair turn-in measured.
